Twilight: Jacob’s House!

Oh yes, I am a fan of Twilight.  I can’t help it- Stephanie Meyer is one of the most amazing writers ever.  She is creative beyond measure and I don’t know where she comes up with it, but it is GOOD!  It took me forever to get started into the books, but after I did I finished all four of them in about 2-3 weeks.  It was a little nuts for a while!  I love the movies too, because that is just like a visual supplement to the awesome storyline.  Last night I went to see Eclipse at midnight.  It was pretty fantastic.  Of course not as stellar as the book- but it was great non-the-less!  Also, I hate to be this way, but it’s even more exciting because we are now that much closer to Breaking Dawn- the last book that rocks the house!  It’s also been confirmed that that book will be broken down into two movies.  So much fun!

Well, about a month ago I went on a family vacation to the Pacific Northwest and drove through the towns that are talked about in the books.  Forks, Port Angeles and La Push, WA.  It was one of the most beautiful places in the United States that I have ever been.  Along the drive to the beach in La Push, we passed “Jacob’s House”.  Enjoy!

Your Passion… Lincoln, California Children’s Photographer

What is it that brings you to your knees?

I spend time photographing my own children- I have to- I would be losing out on the most important moments in my life and my babe’s lives if I didn’t.  This morning, before the world got too busy we went out to Auburn Ravine Park in Lincoln, CA to take a little walk.  I was just looking over the images from the day and this one stopped me dead in my tracks.  I got a lump in my throat and am still fighting back the tears.  My little girl…

As her Mommy I noticed her jewelry- she loves jewelry.  I thought about her being so young now, and having a lifetime to love her diamonds and pearls…  (and what trouble I am in!).

I noticed her eyelashes…  Her tiny little eyelashes so sweet and pure.

Her porcelain skin… still so baby soft.

Her hair, swirling around her face so wispy and fine.  So light and carefree.

Her favorite blue flowing dress she insisted on wearing and her little green fuzzy piece of nature that she stuck on herself like another accessory.  I thought about removing that, but why?  Why take away a piece of what she loves at this very minute?  Leaving it made the portrait perfect.

Perfect to me, and that is all that matters…

This is a test… it is *only* a test! ;) (Thanks Mark!!!)

Family, Love and Pure Beauty. | Sacramento Family Photographer

I had the honor of sharing some time with the Lebron Family a while ago. This family has so much love and adoration for one another. Being around them just makes you feel like a better person. I really can’t tell you how much joy it brought to my heart to be able to share time with them. Our time together was peaceful, full of love and simple goodness!!! Thank you Lebron Family, for inviting me to your life and allowing me to share the love in your family. You will always hold a special place in my heart and I am better person for having met you.

It’s cute, who cares?

I was hanging a few things on the wall the other day and I was thinking about the right way I could be doing it and the fun cute way I chose instead. I used my cute hammer. Yes, the name is even “cute tools.” We have “real” hammers, but for small projects I like to use the cute hammer that feels pretty to carry around. It even had a green ribbon on it, but I lost that along the way somewhere. Then I also used brown nails that were totally the wrong nail, but I liked them because they were brown and not an just the regular metal. It fit the mood I was in. I also used my handy little measuring tape and level. That, my husband was proud of me for. (Aren’t those cool?! I got them not too long ago to give clients. I have a couple of them in different rooms of the house because I use them ALL the time!) While my husband and father would roll their eyes at my superficial ideas here, I couldn’t care in the least. I know that for the project I did, it didn’t REALLY matter what nail I used and I also knew the hammer would work just fine.

I started thinking about this little episode I had on a different level. See, it’s very important to know the technical aspects to photography. You need to know the right settings for your camera (auto just doesn’t cut it!), the right camera to pick up and which lens to put on it. The list is a ton longer then those three tidbits, but I will spare you the exciting jargon. (I think I have put Sam to sleep over such conversation!) The thing is, once you know what you are doing- once you have nailed the technical aspects of photography you can start breaking the rules. That is where the creativity comes in. That’s the part that I love. So why don’t you go try it out… First step- learn your technical info. (That’s the unfun part… sorry.) So learn it, then mix it up a bit! Start breaking the rules and see what happens. You just might be glad that you did!

My Heart Skipped A Beat | Sacramento Child Photographer

When I saw this portrait pop up on my computer, my heart certainly skipped a beat. This is my little Trev- with all his curls and blonde hair! He is such a unique personality and he has me wrapped around his little finger. (Just like his sister has her Daddy wrapped around hers!) We were in Napa and I was able to catch him out in the vineyards exploring. Life happens so fast- this was taken a few short weeks ago and already he looks so different. All of his locks were chopped off- in fact, he had already had his first haircut when this was taken! These little babes grow so fast I just can’t stand it, it’s a good thing their Mom is a photographer.;)
