Relationships :||: Sacramento Child Photographer

Life… my life… is about the relationships that I have with others.  Whether it be a close friend or family member or even someone passing by in a casual meeting- I am affected by having met you.  I try not to take for granted these meetings- no matter how brief.  Sometimes I don’t show it as much as I would like to and I know I should.  You think that those you love will be around forever.  They aren’t.  Friends move, acquaintances lose touch and loved ones pass away.  It’s hard to hear, but it’s the truth.  If you know anything about me, you know that I am a pretty emotional person.  I live with my feelings on my sleeve.  I am not very good at hiding those things.  I am glad of that.  I love it that I am touched so deeply by the relationships I have in my life.  Those whom I am blessed to photograph fill me more then they could ever know.  It is because of the moments that we might not have tomorrow, that I am so passionate about documenting it today.  I don’t live for tomorrow, rather I live for today and photograph for tomorrow.

Today I went for a walk with two of the most important people in my life.  My babes.  I decided we would go for a walk at high noon, have a picnic and that I would photograph them.  I photograph them all the time and they are some of my favorite “subjects”!  Today what was different was that I knew conditions wouldn’t be ideal.  Everyone knows how harsh direct sunlight is- we squint and twist our heads to try and shield our eyes from that bright, bright sun.  It most certainly isn’t the kindest to a portrait subject.  The truth of that, is sometimes we don’t have the perfect conditions.  We don’t always have an overcast sky or open shade.  Sometimes life is about the direct sunray’s that will blind us if we don’t pause for a moment to adjust to it’s magnificent light.  Today I decided that I needed to adjust.  I wasn’t going to wait for the perfect location, my kids to be in the best outfits or not to have a fresh scrape on their chin, the sun to be at the best light or a million other reasons.  I just decided to live in the moment I was in, with my two perfect babes, and just BE.  I have to say, I am glad we did.
